Christophorus
Air Rescue. Since 1983.
Emergency physician, flight paramedic, and pilot—that’s the ÖAMTC crew, which has come to the rescue more than 500,000 times since 1983 aboard one of the Christophorus emergency medical helicopters. The secret to their success: rapid and professional medical assistance directly at the scene of the emergency.
Nonprofit. Nationwide. Life-saving.
The Christophorus Air Rescue Association is a nonprofit organization founded by the regional chapters of the ÖAMTC. Its purpose is to establish facilities that provide optimal emergency medical care to patients in need via emergency medical helicopters. What began in 1983 with two helicopters in Innsbruck and Krems has grown into Austria’s largest air rescue network—with 18 locations, approximately 22,000 missions per year, and a vision: to save lives at any time, in any place, and regardless of the weather.
Air Rescue College
High-quality training.
Before the crew can take off together on a rescue mission, they complete the comprehensive training program at the AirRescueCollege—the training division of ÖAMTC Air Rescue. From the selection process to theory and practical training to ongoing recertification—the AirRescueCollege sets the standards for air rescue in Austria.
