About the Base

Christophorus 3 is stationed in Wiener Neustadt. For many years, it has been one of the most frequently deployed bases in the Christophorus fleet. In addition to eastern Lower Austria, C3 serves parts of northern Burgenland, eastern Upper Styria—and sometimes even the city of Vienna—as well as various Alpine regions, including Hohe Wand, Schneeberg, and Rax; the eastern Pre-Alps; and the Wechsel region. The range of operations extends from missions in densely populated areas to exposed climbing regions. Starting April 1, 2027, the base will operate around the clock in a two-shift system.

Field of Application

C3 is most often called to respond to internal medicine and neurological emergencies. Due to the high volume of traffic in the area, it is also regularly called to traffic accidents. Furthermore, alpine rescue operations play a significant role in the unit’s scope of operations, as parts of the alpine regions within its operational area are heavily developed for tourism.
