About Christophorus
One mission. For over 40 years.
In 1983, the ÖAMTC launched the program with “Christophorus 1.” Today, H135 emergency medical helicopters are in service at 18 year-round and four seasonal locations throughout Austria. What began as a pilot project is now an indispensable part of Austria’s healthcare system—providing comprehensive coverage across the country and meeting the highest medical and aviation standards.
Purpose of the Association & Nonprofit Status
The purpose of the association is to establish facilities for the optimal provision of emergency medical care to emergency patients via emergency medical helicopters. The association is a nonprofit organization and is not for-profit. Any surplus funds must therefore be used to further its nonprofit objectives.
Funding comes from membership dues, cost-sharing contributions, subsidies, sponsorship funds, as well as donations and grants.
The Crew
